Children's Behavioral/Social Skills Workshop
This ten-week behavioral skills workshop provides an opportunity for children to learn in a group setting how to relate appropriately to their peers. The group involves a combination of teaching, activities, and discussions. Children are given opportunities to practice new skills learned.
Hispanic Parenting Class
This twelve-week group offers teaching and small group discussion regarding principles related to successful parenting and overcoming breakdowns in the parent- child relationship. The topics to be discussed include the following:
- Understanding the dynamics of how to parent as a Hispanic in the American culture
- Why it's necessary to discipline your children
- Obstacles to providing appropriate discipline for your children
- Appropriate boundaries and consequences for the various stages of development
- How to teach your children respect and responsibility
- How to develop character in your children
- How to demonstrate affection in a way your children will understand
- How to use rewards and consequences
Adult Survivors of Sexual Abuse
This ten-week support group offers the opportunity for adult survivors of sexual abuse to gather with others who have had similar experiences. Participants will have the opportunity to understand and overcome negative ways in which these experiences have impacted their lives. The following topics will be included:
- Overcoming a sense of powerlessness
- Overcoming shame
- Identity in Christ
- Dealing with your emotions
- Working through the hurt
