The Salvation Army – Norfolk

The Salvation Army serves those in need in Norfolk and several different
ways.  They offer a soup kitchen that is open to the public Sunday through
Friday for lunch.  It starts serving at 11:30pm.  They also offer a food box
to be given out each month to families who may need help with groceries.
The Salvation Army offers emergency assistance including rental, utility,
gas vouchers, and medical help.  They offer seasonal assistance over the
Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, and they also offer a back-to-school
assistance program.
The Salvation Army Thrift Store is available for discount prices.  The store
hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from
9:00am to 5:00pm.
The Salvation Army offers emergency disaster relief to the community.  They
also have a mobile kitchen to assist in relief.  They offer clothing &
furniture vouchers after disasters such as floods or fires.
The Salvation Army of Norfolk is also a church trying to meet the spiritual
needs of the community.  Church service is on Sunday mornings at 10:00am,
with Sunday school following at 11:00am.  Lunch is served after Sunday
school.  Spanish speaking translation is available.
Bible studies are also offered throughout the week. There is a bilingual
English/Spanish speaking speaking group Tuesday mornings at 10:30am.  There
is a fourfold Women’s Program held every Thursday night.  Men’s Club with
Bible studies, service projects and outings is held every third Saturday of
the month.  
Character Building Youth activities at The Salvation Army take place on
Wednesday nights from 2:30pm to 5:30pm and also on Friday nights during the
school year for the teens at 7pm.
The Salvation Army offices hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to
4:00pm, and Fridays from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
